The Brown Swiss cattle, natives of Switzerland, are classed as dual-purpose; that is, they yield a fair quantity of average quality milk and the steers when fattened make average beef. In size the bulls weigh from 1500 to 2000 pounds ; the cows 1200 to 1500 pounds. The color is usually light or dark brown, fading to gray along the backbone to the tail and about the belly. the milk into its lungs.
