"The venue, based on Cumberland Street in the city centre, has been closed since officers from Merseyside Police raided the premises in the early hours of Valentine’s Day. According to police the raid followed “an extensive operation over the last few months which looked at incidents of violence, and contributory factors, such as drug supply, in the night time economy” and 10 bags of cannabis and some cocaine were found on the premises. A 50-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman from Huyton arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A controlled drugs have since been bailed, pending further inquiries. On Saturday, February 14 a hearing to discuss handing a closure order to the club, which has previously hosted music legends including Radiohead, Oasis and The Verve, was adjourned until this afternoon when representatives for the police and the venue will put their arguments before the courts. Lomax was the second club to be raided as part of a Merseyside Police investigation into crime in the night-time economy. Last Wednesday Garlands was handed a three-month closure order while Bold Street club Republik was shut down following a police raid on Friday night." Source Liverpool Echo
