Light pillars. Night view of light pillars formed by artificial lights. More usually associated with the Sun, a light pillar is caused by reflections from the top and bottom surfaces of minute, tabular ice crystals in the atmosphere. Rarely, the ice crystals descend close to the ground, creating light pillars from street lights and the like. Photographed in Finland.
