The Florists' Bowling League pre- miums are on exhibition at Penn's this week. A garden of baby rambler roses has been attractive. Wistarias, lilacs, Darwin tulips, azialeas and a fine assort- ment of other plants meet with a heavy sale. There is a marked decline here in the culture of shamrocks in pots, compared with a few years ago. There is a fair demand for them this week and white carnations for dyeing purposes are a lit- tle stiffer in price. R. & J. Farquhar & Co. report that seed orders, in spite of the continued wintry weather, have come in earlier than usual this season and in large vol- ume. While counter trade is not spe- cially heavy, mail orders greatly exceed those of other vears. At Horticultural hall, March 10, M. L. Urann gave an illustrated lecture on "Cranberry ; March 17 Prof. F. C. Sears, of Amherst, will give an illustrated lecture on "Orcharding in the South and ; There will be no lecture March 24, as the spring flower show will be in progress. Mann Bros., of Randolph, are our larg- est local bulb specialists and they now have a large assortment on their stands. Snapdragons, marguerites, speciosum lilies, callas and many other flowers are also to be found here. F. W. Fletcher, of Auburndale, is back from a winter spent in Florida.
