Nursery stock Pennsylvania Philadelphia Catalogs; Flowers Pennsylvania Catalogs; Vegetables Pennsylvania Catalogs; Seeds Pennsylvania Catalogs. PAIR of light brahmas. LIGHT BRAHMAS. The Light Brahma is at present held in more general favor, and is in more yards in the United States, than any other variety. It is truly a majestic bird and, if well marked and clear, a handsome fowl. They are excellent winter layers ; plumage white ; neck finely penciled black ; wings white, with black on inner web, which does not show when they are closed; tail black, or nearly so ; comb pea-shaped; legs feathered to tip of outside toes. They are not inclined to roam, but will stand confinement remarkably well; and will do well in a small yard, where a fence three feet high will easily confine them. Our stock is bred lov/ and deep in the bodies, with shorter legs than the average, and of large size; well feathered and verj'- uniform in their markings. The illustration given represents a pair of choice Dark Brahmas. They are of similar good qualities to the Light Brahmas, being fully as large and of same shape, except that they are set lower. They are early layers in the vnn- ter, hardy, and the chicks mature rapidlj', making excel- lent broilers at ten or twelve weeks. They have very beautiful dark plumage. The cock has a pea comb; red ear lobes; hackle silvery white; striped with black and white feathers on head; back almost white; the saddle feathers white striped with black ; the tail feathers pure black; the breast is solid black. In the hen the hackle is striped with black; on the body each feather is closely i>en- ciled with dark steel gray. Our birds are bred from the most celebrated strains.
