A Kashmiri man sells ''Kangris'' (a pot used in Kashmir to keep oneself warm) during a cold winter day in Tral Pulwama.‘Chilai Kalan', the harshest winter period of 40 days when there are maximum chances of snow and rains has started in Kashmir with sub-zero night temperatures across the region. In the biting cold of a Kashmir winter, it is the kangri that offers warmth. The earthen pot filled with burning charcoal is held by its handle under the pheran, a long, loose woollen garment people in the Valley wear.
