Brasenose College was founded in 1509, with the College library and chapel - shown here- added in the mid-seventeenth century. Its odd name is believed to derive from the name of a decorative brass or bronze knocker that adorned the main hall's door. The college is adjacent to Radcliffe Square, so the distinctive dome of the Radcliffe Camera is easy to see from its main quadrangle. You can also see the spire of St Mary's church on the right,
