Immigration reform activist rallied at the Federal Building on Varick Street in Manhattan, to call for an end to raids in New York City by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. After a rally and brief march around the building, demonstrators successfully managed to obstruct the intersection of Varick Street and West Houston; the seven individuals comprising a "human chain" blocking the street were arrested after being separated by NYPD Emergency Service Unit personnel who used wire cutters and battery-powered circular saws to cut through the PVC pipes inside which the protesters had joined their hands.
