ARAUCARIA EXCELSA. Norfolk Island Pine. Various names have been suggested for this grand plant to properly convey to the mind the appearance of it. Some have called it the ⢠Christmas Tree Palm, from its resemblance to a Christinas tree: others have called it Ihe'Star Palm. because the leaves are ar- ranged to form a perfect star, but no descriptive name can give auadequateidea of its beauty It has deep green feathery foliage, arranged in whorls, rising one above the other at regular <J l s t a n c e s; its symmetry of form grace and beauty of foliage areunequaledin the vege tabl e kingdom It is easily grown in the house and is highly orna- mental.
