the eleven cities ice skating race is a 125 mile long trip trough eleven cities of friesland. this classic race was for the first time in 1909, en until now only being held for 15 times. in February 2012 the race was annul because the bad condition of the ice. it was a great disappointment for all the people in holland. this picture is made two days after cancellation of the race in the city of sloten. the 3rd place the skaters must pick there stamp. this historic and classic race ( and tour ) starts in: Leeuwarden then to - Sneek - Ijlst - Sloten - Stavoren - Hindeloopen - Workum - Bolsward - Harlingen - Franeker - Dokkum.
