Artifact at an Archaelogical Dig .Bering Land Bridge National Preserve is host to a large number of archaeological sites. The Preserve was set aside in part to preserve these sites and the history of the region known as Beringia. A land bridge was at several times present between Alaska and Siberia, measuring up to 1,000 miles wide. The connecter served as an important route of migration for humans and animals to cross from the Old World to the New.
