If the smokestack is to serve for two boilers, each rated at 16,500 square feet, it would be advis- able to use a flue eighty feet high and thirty-six inches in diameter. In ordinary practice a round, steel smokestack is considered to have the same capacity as a brick flue having sides equal to the diameter of the round smokestack. In actual practice a brick chimney rated at 32x32 inches generally measures slightly more than this and is nearly equivalent to a round flue thirty-four inches in diameter.
