The Liberation of Bergen-belsen Concentration Camp, June 1945 Children are taught to write in the school which opened in the camp after liberation. The children, who came from Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary, are taught by Irene Mandel, a Czech school teacher who was interned in the camp. Miss Mandel spoke five languages, but taught in German, the only language all the children understood.
