Sathmahal Prasada, Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka

This seven storied pyramid shaped building is thought to be an unusually shaped stupa. After the destruction of Anuradhapura in 993 Polonnaruwa became the second capital city of Sri Lanka. The archaeological site consists of Brahmanic monuments built by the Cholas, as well as the stunning monumental ruins of Parakramabahu I's garden-city.
