The greater part of this Volume consists of obser-vations, which have been collected since the lastedition of the Dictionary of Practical Surgery: tothe subjects teated of in that work, they form essen-tial additions, while they complete, as far as my pre-sent leisure enables me to do, a publication, moreparticularly designed as an introduction to , in order to avoid repetitions, and makeroom for new matter, I have now omitted a few to-pics, of which I had no very different views to offerfrom those comprised in the Dictionary; nor shall 1in any future edition of the latter book presume todescribe again various interesting suggestions andmodes of practice now
