Flowers fair- ly tight in the bud move well at quoted prices. The rest go for anything that can be obtained for them. American Beauties are plentiful, but in quality are not more than could be expected under conditions now prevailing. The new rose, Premier, seems to stand up under the weather best of all. Some carnations are still coming in. and the best bring as high as $2 per hundred, the rest going downward to 50 cents per hundred, according to qual- ity. It is expected that a few days more will finish the supply for the season. There is a fair supply of lilies, but their movement is not particularly ac- tive and the icebox is called upon to house many flowers for long periods. Lily of the valley is more plentiful, with a lesser demand, and the extrava- gant prices of the last two weeks or more consequently do not now prevail. Cattleyas are not in great supply and the call for them is not urgent. Good C. gigas brings as high as $1, and some of the hybrids a trifle more. There is a wealth of outdoor flowers in a number of varieties. Gypsophila, in both annual and perennial form, is quite popular, and moves well when of good quality. The best grades of other herbaceous flowers move well, but much stock in inferior grades goes to waste. Golden Glow chrysanthemums have put in an appearance, but do not excite much interest, possibly because they are in limited quantity, but they are worth heralding as quite early. Various Notes.
