Novice monks leaving the prayer hall after morning puja at remote Tawang Monastery, India.

Novice monks leave daily puja at the Tawang Monastery in Tawang, a former Tibetan Kingdom that was signed over to British- run India by way of the Simla Accord in 1914. It is now a part of the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, a fact fiercely disputed by China who do not recognise the Simla Accord and maintain that Tawang is theirs. The Dalai Lama fled to the Tawang Monastery when escaping the Chinese Army in 1959.
