No one who lias examined the statistics of the morbidity and mor-tality due to measles can doubt that this disease reallv is one of seriousimport to childhood. On account of it- wide-spread ravages and itstendency to predispose to complications the death rate of the disease isconsiderable. Howard Jones, a few years ago declared that 1,300deaths occurred from measles annually in England and Wales. in describing an epidemic in an English town gave a mortal-ity of per cent, in all cases. In institutions ami hospitals thedeath rate may be much higher, even up to 50 per cent, has been re-ported from several places. In my own private practice I would estimate the mortality in thelast ten years as not ove
