This sculpture, titled Animal, was done by American artist Bernard Langlais and is housed at the Langlais Sculpture Preserve in Cushing, Maine. It is based on Christina Olson, who is is best known as the subject of N C Wyeth’s Christina’s World painting. In the background is a cow by Langlais. Bernard Langlais (1921 - 1977) was a Maine native and maintained a studio in Cushing, Maine until his death at the age of 56. He developed his artistic interest at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
