A huge art installation of the MOON measuring SEVEN METRES in diameter is hanging in historic Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire as part of its science festival. The impressive Museum of the Moon is a touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram and will be at the Gothic-style cathedral until June 9. The moon features detailed 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface and at a scale of about 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents five km of the moon's surface. The Museum of the Moon is touring around the UK and is being installed at both indoor and outdoor venues, which alters the interpretation of the artwork each time. The installation is a fusion of lunar imagery, moonlight and surround sound composition created by BAFTA and Ivor Novello award winning composer Dan Jones.
