Wadsworth, andthree children, Adella, Alberta and Edward A. Adellaresides with us. Alberta and Edward gratuated from thehigh school ; she is teaching in this city and Edward has aposition in a store. Fletcher enlisted September 10th, 1862, andwas commissioned Second Lieutenant of Company G,Twenty-Sixth Maine Volunteers. He served in this posi-tion until February 2d, 1863, when he was promoted to FirstLieutenant, and from that date he was in command of thecompany until March 1st. At that time the regiment was atBaton Rouge, La., performing its part of picket duty andexercising in company, regimental, brigade and divisiondrill. He participated in all the movements and marches ofcompany and regiment, in the first demonstration on PortHudson, up to March 16th, when, from fatigue and exposurewhile on a forced march in a cold rainstorm, he fell sick and HISTORY OF THE TWENTY-SIXTH MAINE REGIMENT. 337 was conveyed to Baton Rouge General Hospital, where heremained very ill for several weeks.
