Heexecuted a great number of costly pieces of his famousmarquetry for Louis XIV. and the Dauphin of France,many of which found their way to England a centurylater. Examples of Boulle work fetch great priceswhen, as on rare occasions, they make their appear-ance in a sale. In Germany in the seventeenth century, the mostprominent names as designers and makers of furnitureare Philip Heinhofer, Baumgartner, and Hans Schwan-hard.
