Tavern scene. Artwork based on a 16th-century painting showing women serving men in a tavern-like scene. The original painting was by the 16th-century Flemish painter Jan Sanders van Hemessen. A similar work of his ('A Merry Company') dates from around 1540. This woodcut reproduction dates from around 1865.
