Henry Joseph Wood (1869-1944) English conductor. Wood on the conductor's podium at the Queen's Hall, London, in 1903. In 1895 he took charge of the Promenade concerts at Queen's Hall and continued in this role for the next 50 years. After the destruction of Queen's Hall in the London blitz in 1941 the season of Promenade concerts transferred to the Royal Albert Hall, Kensington, where they still continue.
