The large leaf-shaped implements and similar objects made by chip- ping, which are thin in comparison to their width, made by striking ofi" fine and long Hakes reaching to or beyond the center of the imple- ment, leaving the edges keen and sharp, have never been reproduced. Such implements as are represented in figs. 86 to 95, from the United States, and the large ones in plates 9 and 10, from Europe, have never been made in modern times or by modern workmen.
