. 1/22 Battalion, London Regiment Captain Baswitz was posted to France on 15 March 1915. During his subsequent service on the Western Front, he was awarded the Military Cross and twice Mentioned in Despatches. Aged 24, he was killed in action at High Wood on 16 September during the Battle of the Somme. He is buried at Flatiron Copse Cemetery, Mametz.
