Plants surviving such at-tacks never succeed in producing any thing butfibre and leaf. Probably a whole field wouldnot yield ten bushels of cotton. Had he ascer-tained the cause sufficiently early he might havereplanted and secured a good crop, as far as thisworm is concerned, for it will not reappear untilthe same period the next season.
