Europe Italy Piedmont Turin Piazza Castello Royal palace Royal Garden Statue The Palace, a royal residence for, was designed in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth century by Ascanio Vittozzi. The latter's death, the work was entrusted, during the regency of Christine of France, Charles of Castellamonte. The facade has a central section flanked by two wings higher, according to the seventeenth-century project of Carlo Morello. The main floor rooms are decorated by allegorical images that celebrate the royal dynasty, hand-made by different artists. At the end of the seventeenth century, Daniel Seiter is called to paint the ceiling of the gallery, which is also called the Daniel Gallery, and Guarino Guarini's Chapel of the Shroud built to house the precious relic. In the eighteenth century is called for some modifications, the architect Filippo Juvarra. He realizes the scale of the Palace consists of double scissors ramps and decorated by the Chinese Cabinet eighteenth century frescoes by Claudio Francesco Beaumont, court artist during the reign of Charles Emmanuel III.
