Platanenhain, Mathildenhöhe, Darmstadt. Bernhard Hoetger's design of the Platanenhain was a highlight of the last exhibition of the Darmstadt Artists' Colony in 1914. He used sculptures, fountains and plane trees to create a celebration of the cycle of life and the seasons. Reliefs (spring, summer, sleep and Resurrection), animal figurines, pitcher bearers, text reliefs, vases, fountains, Egyptian motifs and poetry decorate the shaded park.
