Pupa brown, less thanhalf an inch in length. Larvawhite when very young, butbecoming pink; feeds in greenor ripe bolls, first attackingthe leaves or outside of bolls;later it bores inside of the boll,feeding on the seed. The lar-val period is sometimes verygreatly retarded. Eggs de-posited singly on leaves,stalks, and bolls hatch in afew days. (See text fig. 48.)Has become established in.
