Abingdon, England - 20 May 2020; no people in view. Abingdon claims to be the oldest town in England. This is its famous medieval stone bridge, on a fine spring morning. The Bridge was begun in 1416 and completed in 1422, using local limestone. It was funded by Abingdon's religious guild, the Fraternity of the Holy Cross. Here we see the bridge at sunrise on a fine, Spring morning; it faces roughly E/W, so first light catches the stonework under its main arch, producing this wondrous glow.
