A small South German cabinet casket, probably Augsburg, late 16th century, The rectangular casket made of softwood and entirely covered with fine marquetry of maple, walnut, oak and ebonised wood. The exterior decorated with panels and ornamental bands. The inside of the cover and the front drawers feature architectural scenery. An iron carrying handle on the top. Intricately worked lock with openwork cover plate. The original hollow shank key with trefoil bow. The interior comprises eight drawers.
