Tugboat M/S Purha - former Minesweeper DR-10 - in Suomenlinna fortress dry dock in Helsinki, Finland

M/S Purha was originally a tugboat built in the United States for the invasion of Normandy. The ST-87 was ordered from John E. Matton and Sons of Choes, New York. It was completed in 1943. On June 12, 1946, the Department of National Defense of Finland bought eighteen ST-class tugboats for post-war mine clearance from the US Army. Tugboat #10 was leased to the Navy on November 21, 1945 as a mine sweeper DR-10. The vessel survived the operations without damage, and later on the vessel became once again a tugboat under the name Purha at the Helsinki Navy Station.
