This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product Mamers Valles, Mars, height-colour-coded satellite image. North is at right. This is an overhead orthographic image: red areas are highest, and blue areas are lowest. This is a circular depression at the southern end of Mamers Valles. It is thought that outflows of groundwater and glacial meltwater eroded the depression walls, depositing the blocks of rocks at centre. The dark patch (purple) could have formed here or be material transported here by the wind. This depression is around 30 kilometres wide and kilometres deep. The image data is from the High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) on board the European Space Agency's (ESA) Mars Express Orbiter.
