Venice. Satellite image of Venice, an island city in a lagoon off the coast of Italy. North is at top. The Grand Canal (Canal Grande) winds through the city from upper left to the Canale Della Giudecca (large open channel across bottom). The smaller island across bottom is Guidecca Island. Just to the right of this junction between the Canal Grande and the Canale Della Guidecca, is St Mark's Square (Piazza St Marco), an area of numerous historical landmarks.
