We have not been able to tracethe family earlier than David Bells father, John Bell, as the name iscomparatively common in the parish of Cupar and neighbourhood,and we have been confronted with the difficulties of identificationwhich we have not been able to overcome, but we found David Bellwas born at Cupar, Fife, on 9th July 1793.
