Mountains in Bhutan, satellite image. North is at top. Bhutan is a small landlocked country in the Himalayas mountain range, between eastern India and the Tibetan plateau. The white areas are high snow-covered mountains. Several large glaciers (grey) flow down the mountains to relatively snow-free lowlands (green). Lakes formed from the meltwater (blue) are also seen. Image taken on 11th October 2005 using the ASTER instrument on board NASA's Terra satellite.
