St Lawrence Jewry, church in the City of London. Rebuilt after the Great Fire of London (1666) by Christopher Wren between 1670 and 1676. Severely damaged by incendiary bombs in December 1940, and rebuilt by Cecil Brown in the late 1950s. 1950s window by Christopher Webb show St Paul leaning on a sword, symbol of the City of London. Below him an angel holds the bombed- out church, missing its steeple. The window is off-centre within the opening, with the optical effect of making the end wall seem much thicker than it really is
