The War Map of Western Europe. The map shows the entire zone of military operations in the Western campaign. The Franco German frontier from Basel up to Luxemburg was the legitimate line on which Germany might have attacked France, but this frontier is strongly fortified on the French side, whereas France's northern frontier, that facing Belgium was much more pregnable.
