Prominent Characteristics Vigorous, moderately spreading tree, reddish bark, and broad oval leaves with cordate base and dull serrations. Differs from — Cortland by lighter red bark and more yellowish leaves with cordate base. Kendall by lighter colored bark, larger and somewhat fewer lenticels, and smoother leaves. Macoun by taller, more spreading growth, more reddish bark, less roundish, smoother leaves with duller serrations.
