In 184S he removed to Coldwater andengaged in business, and has remained there up to thepresent. Mr. Bennett was himself much surprised whenhe learned of the young mans worth, and was ever after-ward his staunch friend. Lewis Burgess settled in Monroe County in 1834, andafterwards removed to Noble, bringing both his parents andgrandparents with him. His grandfather died at the ad-vanced age of ninety-five years.
