The McCallum Co. has received from .abroad one and one-half carloads of artificial flowers, which have been lying in the New York docks for the last two months on account of the dockmen's strike and the railroad embargo. George C. McCallum has returned from a sev- eral days' trip to New York, having gone on to visit the organization's new branch store at 239 Fourth avenue. Mr. McCallum went on the five days' ex- cursion of the Chamber of Commerce, taking in towns in western Pennsyl- vania. Mr. Puryear, formerly identified with the John Ratcliffe establishment, of Eichmond, Va., has been added to the company's traveling staff. Mr. Pur- year's territory will include the south- ern Atlantic states, from "Washington, D. C, to Florida. Mr. and Mrs. William A. Clarke were members of the Shriners' party, which left Saturday night, June 5, for Port- land, Ore. The other members of the family will leave shortly for their sum- mer headquarters at Stowe, Chautauqua Lake, N. Y. William A. Clarke, Jr., has returned from State College, where he has been specializing in floriculture. Peter Kronis, who before entering the United States service was a sales- man in the Pennsylvania station store, has become manager of the concern.
