Th^School of Design in St. Louis, conducted by Mr. Conrad Diehl, is rapidly growing,and has already won enviable praise in the most cultured art circles of the Catholic population within the archdiocese of St. .Louis is certainly verylarge, probably numbering two hundred thousand persons; and from this popula-tion at least twenty-five thousand children are furnished to the one hundredparish schools attached to the various churches in the diocese. None of theseschools receive any aid from the common school fund, and the pupils are inevery way removed from the influences of secular education, and made a class bythemselves.
