Foxs Morris perform an interpretation of the 'Border' Morris dances collected in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire. Certain aspects of the side's kit reflect some theories as to the origins, meanings & symbolisms, on the tradition's past as a form of winter begging, , the wearing of bells- to add noise and rhythm, dancing with sticks- to add noise & look threatening, and blackened the faces- to disguise dancers and musicians.
Dressed in traditional ‘Tatters’, shirts covered in ribbons and strips of fabric in our sides colours blue and black. Traditionally border morris dancers would ‘black’ their faces up to hide there identity
