Washington Calls on Colonel Rall

The Battle of Trenton in western New Jersey on December 20, 1776, was a major turning point in the American Revolution. After crossing the Delaware River, Washington surprised and captured about 900 Hessians under the command of Colonel Rall (also spelled Rahl). Fighting for the British, Rall was mortally wounded and Washington visited him (shown here).
