The riots lasted from Monday, July 26,to August I,—just one week; and the eventsof the first day are thus recorded: Early in the morning of this day (the 26th)shots were heard in different parts of the city;they proceeded from all kinds of arms in thehands of men, boys, and the police and CuardiaCivil.
