Hisfirst work was to investigate the unit switch control, which thecompany was then exploiting. Following that he was appointedengineering inspector. He was also one of the members of theverification committee. Two years ago, when the works depart-ment was organized, he was made director of buildings andequipment. In addition to other work in the railway field hewas active in the design and manufacture of the equipment fur-. W. The Pullman Company has announced the establishment ofa pension plan providing for the retirement of employees at theage of 70, or after 20 years of service in case of disability, with apension equal to 1 per cent for each year of service of the aver-age rate of pay for the last year of service. No one over 45years of age will be taken into service hereafter except byspecial arangement. The pension plan will be administered bya board of pensions, consisting of Richmond Dean, general man-ager, chairman; William Hough, auditor; Leroy Kramer, as-sistant to the president; L. S. Hungerford. general superintend-ent, and L. S. Taylor, treasurer. The company has about 33,000employees. The Franklin Railway Supply Company, New York, becauseof growth in business has been compelled to enlarge and re-organize its sales department. Walter H. C
