1929 - Imperial airways 'City of Glasgow' loading Royal Mail, air mail items at Croydon for delivery to Basle on the England to India route. Around 20 passeners could be carried, these were usually businessman or colonial staff. Accidents were not unknown and in the first six years, 32 people died in seven incidents
