There is a grove of trees, a tree for each state in the Union, with the name of the state on it, forty-eight in all. The War Mothers of each state in the Union raised a subscription and sent it to the president of the associa- tion in Baltimore, to lay a floral offer- ing at the base of each tree in memory of the sons of that state wlio died in France. William F. Keys, Jr., had charge of this, and, with flowers as scarce as they were, it was no small job to get out forty-eight floral offer- ings such as were used in this ceremony. I have no idea who thought of this method to remember those boys now lying in France, but does this not ofl'iT a suggestion of what might be done by the florists to make Memorial day one of the
