Passerini wasmanager of the Gentlemans and St. Cecilia Concert, wherehe and his wife had a permanent engagement as skilledmusicians. He played solos and accompanied singing withthe instrument. Perhaps the viole damour underwentseveral modifications, as its name was changed to psaltery,in the belief of its being the ancient instrument so denominated,wliich is quite different according to most authorititS, notbelonging to the lidicinal tribe.
